For the project, I worked with Aaron Nelson, Co-Director of the Digital Design and Fabrication Program at New Paltz. With over 10 years of CAD experience, he teaches a hefty amount of the classes within the program as well as being the director of the Makerbot Innovation Center in the HVMAC.
The goals of the project were as follows:
- Promote the Digital Design and Fabrication masters program and minors program to prospective and current students through a series of merchandise.
- Get more people interested in the DDF program and to show them what resources are available.
The finished bracelets and pins have been actively being distributed by the DDF program for about two semesters now and from what I’ve seen they are a big hit! Upon their release, I saw many people wearing them around campus and when I put out some pins they were gone within minutes.
I am not sure if the products I’ve designed have drawn more people to the program at this point but they’re definitely interested in the swag and I hope it leads them to ask the question of “where did it come from?”.
